Functional Range Release

According to the Functional Anatomy Seminars website who coined Functional Range Release,

“Functional Range Release technique, or FR® Release is an advanced, and comprehensive system of soft tissue assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation used by some of the most highly regarded manual therapists around the world.”

In fact, trainers for the Canada Basketball team even use Functional Range Release on the players! At Ottawa Health Group, we are happy to say that our Ottawa and Kanata, ON chiropractors, massage therapists, and physiotherapists employ this method in their own practices. If you are interested in learning more about this method of treatment and potentially adding it into your personal treatment plan, don’t hesitate to contact Ottawa Health Group today.

How is Functional Range Release different from any other manual therapy method?

There are a lot of different manual techniques out there, and all have been proven as effective modes of soft tissue treatment. So, how does Functional Range Release compare?

One of the main differences separating FR Release from its other manual therapy counterparts is its focus on scientific methodology. FR Release is a proven manual physiotherapy method that was created on the basis of scientific research, thus enhancing its credibility and efficacy.

While other manual methods are undoubtedly helpful, Functional Range Release is substantiated by medical professionals, and the results have been overwhelmingly positive from patients everywhere. From Canada to the U.S. to the U.K., FR Release has proven effective.

So, how exactly does Functional Range Release work?

Now you know a little bit more about the background of Functional Range Release. At this point, you may even be interested in adding it into your own treatment plan – but how does it work?

The FR Release method essentially divides the body into three different categories – upper limb, lower limb, and spine. When you arrive for your initial appointment, you will undergo a comprehensive exam that will determine which category will be the focus and what the best manual methods will be for your needs.

There are four main components to FR Release. These include:

  • Functional Anatomic Palpation (FAP)
  • Tissue Tension Technique
  • FR Release Treatment Application
  • Progressive and Regressive Angular Isometric Loading (PAILs/RAILs)

Our Ottawa and Kanata, ON chiropractors, massage therapists, and physiotherapists are highly trained in the methods of Functional Range Release and can make sure the best methods of treatment will be added to your treatment plan. Through these hands-on approaches, you will be able to find relief from pain and improve your physical function overall.

Want to get started on FR Release?

Functional Range Release relieves tension from your soft tissues directly, in order to improve your function of the affected area and relieve any pain, stiffness, or inflammation you may be experiencing. If you are living with limitations in your upper limbs, lower limbs, or spine, FR Release may be a beneficial option for you.

Are you interested in adding this method to your treatment plan? Contact Ottawa Health Group today to request an appointment and get started on the first steps!
