Functional Range Conditioning (FRC)
Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) is a proven method that was developed by world-renowned Chiropractor Dr. Andreo Spina. Functional Range Conditioning is a comprehensive joint training system based on scientific principles and research.
“Functional Range Conditioning (FRC®) utilizes the latest advancements in scientific knowledge, combined with tried and tested training methods to increase one’s active, usable ranges of motion by simultaneously improving articular mobility, strength/resilience, and neurological control.”

Essentially, Functional Range Conditioning is an effective way to help you improve the control of your body, thus enhancing mobility. At Ottawa Health Group, we are happy to say that Dr. Dave Zanet employs this method in his practice. If you are looking to improve your mobility and get better control of your life, don’t hesitate to contact us.
I am interested in FRC, but how does it work?
This is a fair question. Everyone likes the idea of improving their mobility and strength, but how exactly can this be achieved through Functional Range Conditioning?
Basically, through targeted stretches and exercises, FRC is able to expand the natural range of motion in one’s body. By doing this, FRC is also able to help one’s nervous system learn how to control these new ranges of motion.
It becomes more and more difficult to control one’s range of motion once that range begins to decrease. This leads to decreased function and mobility. Therefore, by implementing the necessary stretches and exercises to increase a patient’s range of motion, FRC is able to successfully control function, and mobility in the affected area.
Furthermore, this method works to aid in the development and strengthening of joint tissues, which greatly prevents a patient’s risk of sustaining an injury in the affected area.
How do I know that FRC will benefit me?
Functional Range Conditioning is based on scientific methodology. When you arrive for your initial appointment, you will undergo a comprehensive exam that will determine which stretches and exercises will be the most influential in the conditioning of your range of motion.
FRC has four main components that it works toward. These include:
- Mobility and flexibility
- Joint strength
- Articular health and longevity
- Performance enhancement
Dr. Zanet will ensure that you achieve all four of those benefits along with your personal goals throughout your FRC journey by tracking your progress every step of the way.
